Welcome / Bienvenido![]() Welcome to my website. Here you will find projects and research material I have worked on or are currently working on. I am currently the founder and CEO of Cognent, Inc., (www.cognent.com) an El Paso, Texas based technology firm with clients in the United States, México and Europe. I am also the owner of DigiMex, a Mexican based technology company based in Cd. Juárez, Chihuahua. Both Cognent, Inc. and DigiMex complement each other and allow our operations to benefit from the globalization of our two countries and the implementation of NAFTA. My employees and I produce some the best known web solutions in the world. I have been in business since 1991 both in the technology field and providing consulting services to private and public companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and governmental bodies in the area of US-México geo-politics and The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Besides the duties I perform for my companies and my consulting clients I also volunteer in local projects such as Biztech (www.biztechep.com) and Digital El Paso (www.digitalelpaso.com) among others. I am also constantly creating websites designed to provide information about my culture and my experiences. Some of these websites have been online for a while, others are just ideas and concepts and others are under construction. The Internet is about dissemination and sharing of information. The medium is perfect for sharing a little about ourselves, our culture and our way of looking at the world. The website is designed in a “book” fashion where each “page” is a project I am working on or have completed. Each project could be a website, a whitepaper or both. Because each project is as diverse as my interests it would force me to create a new button for each project I decide to post eventually making the website unmanageable and unusable to my visitors. By using the “book” format I can add projects as pages on diverse topics as I get the opportunity and each project would be linked to an index where you, my visitor, can view and comment on each project. Each project could be a small snippet or comment about a topic, it could be a website sharing some piece of information or it could be a white paper taking a position on an issue or introducing a concept or theory to you. Go to “Projects and Papers” to view my projects. I encourage you to read and comment on my projects as your comments will only help me to see the subject from another point of view. Your participation will only make each project that much better. All visitors can read and download the white papers but in order for you to comment you need to register. In my point of view, Spammers are the biggest threat to the Internet and as such I have no use for them. They are destroying the beauty of the Internet and although most people hate to admit it publically the fact is that the largest culprits are fueled by the indifference and sometimes collusion of the biggest names in digital space. Because of this you can rest assured that I would never share your personal email address with anyone. The only reason I even ask you to register is to thwart the Spammers intent on destroying the netspace we all share. Please take a moment to register yourself and post your comments and thoughts on the projects I have posted here. If you want to learn a little more about me, go to the About Me page or drop me a line under the Contact Me page (www.martinparedes.com/contact). Thank you for visiting my space on the net and I look forward to your comments. Martín
